About The Photographer
I began making photographs in 1969. I straight off took to Chicago’s Uptown streets. Those fascinating sidewalks & gangways were my first classroom. These street scenes, made from July ’69 thru January ’71, were my first efforts and remain my favorites. Practically all the negatives I made during that time remain unprinted. I first saw positive images of most when I began to archive my negs as digital files in 2011. Almost invariably, I prefer B&W prints in an intimate format, no larger than 6×9. The most durable images of every age expose and celebrate humanity. Though humanity is an essential ingredient in my B&W, no social commentary is ever relevant. Visual stimulus has always been the singular impetus for me to transfer light to film.
